Whew, this took awhile. I've been CGing this since my winter break started in the middle of December. I initially drew the picture in November, which should explain why the theme was autumn. Man I'm slow...

So there's really three things I have to say that really helped me with this on DA: tutorials, brushes, and references. I'm still working on soft shading with different light sources and on color contrasting. I usually don't use dark and light colors that are dark or light enough, which requires me to always tweak the contrast or color balance.

As opposed to the Epoch deviation I submitted earlier, I actually like how this one came out. No whining from me this time about not liking it, etc.

I must say the same thing I said when I first saw it - it looks really amazing. The colors and composition are really great. That said, I think you went easy on the shading with the face. I think you could have also shaded the grasslands beyond the hill a bit better in order to give a greater sense of depth. See:

I can't find exactly the picture I want. Also, a word on composition - the placement of the leaves right on top of the cloud is somewhat distracting, especially since your clouds are so kick-ass.

Man, if I only saw those references earlier, I wonder how different the picture would've came out?

Well, the picture's actually really similar to the actual drawing, but next time I'll be sure to have a bit more "artistic freedom."
